 Heinlein's Hollywood House
From the Real Estate Pages of the LA Times, 12/11/1983.
"Science fiction writer's home has secret stairs
The two-story country home originally designed and built by Robert Heinlein, author of "Stranger in a Strange Land," is situated on a large lot south of Mulholland Drive and west of Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles. It is offered for sale at the reduced price of $219,000.
Featured throughout the home are wood floors, open beams, wood paneling and cross-hatch windows.
A flagstone entry leads to three bedrooms and three baths, a beamed living room with a stone fireplace and a kitchen complete with breakfast area, a wood-burning, used-brick fireplace and an antique wagon wheel fixture.
There is a balcony off the living room. The downstairs room features a secret stairwell, much like the stairs of a boat, and is complete with an overhead handrail. Each bedroom has its own bath and private entry.
A 200-square-foot patio with used-brick flooring and a wood trellis is located off the home, which is covered with trumpet vines and surrounded by flowers.
For further information, contact Linda Ballou of Jerry Berns & Associates at (213) 788-xxxx."

 Re: Heinlein's Hollywood House
Heinlein didn't build the Laurel Canyon house.
